He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 So you are after him! 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And he feareth 9 you ignore him. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and pious. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olives, and palms, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
