He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble and pious. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruits and fodder 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
