He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And hath fear, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
