He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And hath fear, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 lofty and pure, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
