He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olives and palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
