He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 So you are after him! 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
