He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 So you are after him! 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 olives, dates, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
