He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 and in awe [of God] 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 lofty and pure, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what has God created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olives and palms 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
