He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 So you are after him! 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and in awe [of God] 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what has God created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and olives and palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
