He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 You pay full attention, 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble, pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 And We made corn grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 his consort, his sons, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
