He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 you attended to him, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 you pay him no heed. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
