He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 And produce therein corn, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 olives, dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
