He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 You neglect. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
