He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and fearfully, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble, pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
