He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him you give attention. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and purified. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 olives, dates, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
