He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 you attend to him, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and in awe of God 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man look at his food: 24 How We pour water in showers 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
