He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And he feareth 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 In honored books, 13 exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 and his mother and his father; 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
