He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and fears (Allah), 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 lofty and pure, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and purified. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 Olives and dates, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits and pastures 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
