He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 To him you give attention. 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and in awe of God 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 mother, father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 but others will be gloomy 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
