He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you attend to him, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 and who has fear of God, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
