He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And he fears, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
