He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 You pay full attention, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and fearfully, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and purified. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
