He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 then caused the grain to grow out of it, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
