He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him you give attention. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
