He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and fearfully, 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 May man be slain how ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Dust shall cover them 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
True are the words of God the Almighty.
