He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and in awe of God 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Not this way this is the advice. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 From what substance did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
Almighty Allah's Truth.
