He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 to him thou attendest 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and purified. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then He will raise him up again when He please. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And produce therein corn, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits and pastures 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 And from his mother and father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
