He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 To him you give attention. 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Noble and pious. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing and joyous 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
