He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 To him you attend; 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And hath fear, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 whereas some faces will be covered with dust 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
