He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 So you are after him! 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and in awe of God 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted and purified, 14 (Set down) by scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
