He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 to him thou attendest 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And he feareth 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 He will then send him to death and have him laid in the grave. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyous 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
