He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 to a rich man, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And hath fear, 9 You neglect. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
