He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 You pay full attention, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he fears, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
