He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
