He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 you ignore him. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Noble and pious. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the deafening cry shall be sounded 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his consort, his sons, 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
