He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 So you are after him! 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 on that Day, to every one of them will his own state be of sufficient concern. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
