He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 you ignore him. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
Almighty God's Truth.
