He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you attended to him, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 lofty and pure, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and let the earth to break open 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olive and palm trees 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 laughing and joyous 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
