He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him you give attention. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Noble and pious. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 laughing, joyous; 39 but others will be gloomy 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
