'Abasa
He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And whereas he fears, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Noble and pious. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
