He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him you give attention. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And he fears, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruits and herbage 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
