He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and fearfully, 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
