He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 You pay full attention, 6 Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace). 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and fears (Allah), 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 olives, dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 laughing and joyful, 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 with darkness overspread: 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
