He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 To him you give attention. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 On honourable pages. 13 uplifted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and herbage 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
