He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 you attend to him, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And he feareth 9 you pay him no heed. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then when He wills, He will resurrect him. 22 By no means hath he fulfilled what Allah hath commanded him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
