He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 So you are after him! 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 And hath fear, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 uplifted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
