He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
