He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 To him you attend; 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and in awe [of God] 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 and He will resurrect him whenever He wants. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
