He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and fears (Allah), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 then the way eased for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And other faces that Day will be dust-stained, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
