He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 You pay full attention, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 you ignore him. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
